Christmas Day At Disneyland

by | Dec 23, 2019

Ever wondered what it is like to spend Christmas Day at the Happiest Place on Earth? Well back in 2016 my wife and I decided to do just that. We both had a wonderful experience and I would be more than happy to share it with you.

Many people would not think of going to Disneyland on Christmas Day because of the potential crowds. The crowds when we went were quite the opposite. We were able to get on quite a number of rides with our park hopper tickets. This was my wife’s first time going to Disneyland during the holiday season so for her it was really special seeing the decorations for the first time let alone some Disney Magic happening that day. It is hard to explain, but being there on Christmas Day brought something that any other day at Disneyland during the holiday season could not bring. Maybe it was the lesser crowd or maybe just because it was Christmas Day.

The two big highlights for my wife was seeing Frozen: Live at the Hyperion and the World of Color Winter Dreams holiday layover. For the World of Color we made reservations at the Wine Country Trattoria for its dining package. I recommend that for World of Color to ensure you get front row viewing. Winter Dreams started in 2013 and features many Christmas songs intertwined with clips from Disney classics in sync with the music. It is truly a wonderful show to see and I highly recommend it.

If you are more interested in giving yourself a white Christmas, then Believe in Holiday Magic at Disneyland is an excellent show to see. Believe in Holiday Magic premiered in 2000 and has been running ever since with the exception of 2005 and 2016. In those years, other fireworks shows temporarily replaced it during the park’s 50th and 60th anniversaries. This show lights up the sky while synchronized to classic Christmas songs and it really makes you feel the holiday magic. The show ends with snow falling from Main Street and the Fantasmic viewing area while “White Christmas” plays. During the 2018 holiday season, the show received an upgrade with water fountains and searchlights. If you are looking to end your evening with a White Christmas then this is the perfect way.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience for both of us and is a recommendation during the holiday season. Even if you don’t go exactly on Christmas Day, Disneyland does a wonderful job creating a magical atmosphere not available during the rest of the year. Everyone at ConciEARS hopes you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
