Most people believe that you must be at the Disney Parks in order to experience that Disney Magic. This does not have to be the case. For those who can’t go to the Parks, there are other ways to get a dose of the Disney Magic and they may be closer than you think.
When you think of Washington, I imagine your first thoughts would be rain, snow, and the Space Needle. That doesn’t sound very Disney, does it? And yet, my wife and I had a unique Disney experience in Seattle, of all places, that we would not have gotten in Disneyland or Disney World.
Did you know that Frozen on Broadway is currently touring in the United States? The Frozen tour was right next door to us at the beginning of February, so we made a Disney weekend out of it while enjoying some unique experiences exclusive to the area. Granted, we didn’t stay in a Disney Hotel, but the Residence Inn by Marriott was a beautiful hotel that was centrally located in the heart of downtown Seattle. The continental breakfast had my wife gushing over the meal for days (a win for sure).
Before we immersed ourselves with Disney Magic on the stage, we spent some time downtown exploring one of my wife’s favorite locations: Pike Place Market. Prior to the show, I set up reservations at The Cheesecake Factory. We learned really quickly, just like in a Disney Park, how important reservations for dining can be. The Cheesecake Factory was incredibly busy, likely due to people wanting to get a bite to eat before the show. Most had to wait 35 plus minutes just to be seated. Thankfully, we did not have to wait because I had planned ahead, allowing us to enjoy our meal and dessert. In my opinion, what made this experience so unique and fun was that not everything was Disney-specific, and I think that made the show so much more special.
If you enjoy live shows, there are US and international tours of Broadway shows that have taken Disney movies and reimagined them for the stage, such as Frozen, or even the famous Lion King on Broadway. These shows, like the stage shows that you can watch at Disneyland, Disney World, or even on the cruises, bring to life Disney movies in a magical way that you cannot get from a ride or even the original movie itself.
For those of you who have seen Frozen: A Musical Spectacular at California Adventure or on a Disney Cruise, the Broadway show has some similarities. You will discover that there are a fair number of new songs and a lot more time to enjoy your favorite characters. Two of my favorite songs that are unique to the show are when Anna and Kristoff sing about what love is, and Oaken getting his very own song, complete with dancers coming out of the Sauna like a clown car! Of course, the number my wife wanted to see live was “Let it Go,” which did not disappoint! The stage set was amazing, the song was wonderful, and Elsa’s costume change was a marvel to behold that I am still trying to figure out. It was a night we will treasure forever.
If you are thinking about seeing Frozen on Broadway, you can check out the US Tour and see if it’s near your city, or ask one of the talented ConciEARS on our team and we would be more than happy to help plan a one-of-a-kind vacation for you. It is also still playing in New York where an Adventures by Disney package is available. Not only can you get premium seating for the show, you can have a variety of great New York City experiences with knowledgeable tour guides to show you the way.
When you can’t go to the parks or cruises, this a great way to go experience Disney with your family or friends. This was a fun weekend getaway for me and my wife, and I would love nothing more than to help you have a similar magical experience. Please ask us about any vacation you would like to have, even if it is outside your typical Disney Park or Cruise trip. Your next Disney adventure could be closer than you think, and we at ConciEARS are ready to help you make your dreams come true, wherever your final destination may be.
