What is the Genie Service?

Coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World this Fall, Disney Genie is a complimentary digital service in the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps designed to help plan a great day at the parks. Disney Genie will include a personal itinerary feature enabling you to map out your entire day. This includes favorite attractions, foodie experiences and entertainment, general interests like princesses, villains, Star Wars, thrill rides and more! Just tell Disney Genie what you want to do and it will plan the rest!

What is the main difference between Disney Genie and Disney Genie+?

Disney Genie is a complimentary digital planning service with personalized itineraries, tips that will help reduce wait times in lines, and other features. Genie+ is an add-on option available for purchase that will give guests access to the Lightning Lane entrance to attractions. Reserve your family’s spot in hour-long windows throughout the day! The service also includes photo features and audio experiences.

What is the Lightning Lane entrance?

The Lightning Lane entrance is a queue available for options that Guests can choose to purchase to save time in line. Selections will be made on the same day of your visit and can be used across multiple parks, great for those who use Park Hopper tickets. You can select from a smaller number of high-demand attractions, up to two reservations each day. Pricing for the individual attraction selections will vary by date, attraction, and park.

How much does Disney Genie+ cost?

The price will be $15 per ticket per day at Disney World and $20 per ticket per day at Disneyland. You can purchase the service for all of your park days through current vacation packages or ticket-only purchases. You can also just purchase day-by-day separately on the Disney World or Disneyland apps.

Which attractions are on Genie+?

Examples include Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Disney will release the full attraction list soon. 

What attractions will have Lightning Lane?

Examples might include big attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Radiator Springs Racers.

Will I have to purchase Genie+ or Lightning Lane to access attractions?

Attractions will continue to have their traditional standby queue, or a virtual queue at certain rides like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

Do all guests need to pay to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, or WEB SLINGERS: A Spiderman Adventure?

Guests can join the virtual queue via Disney Genie in the individual park apps. If guests are unable to secure a place via the virtual queue, purchase of the Lightning Lane entrance may be an option to experience the attractions, subject to availability. There is no traditional standby queue for these attractions at this time.

Will I still have a good trip if I don’t purchase Genie+?

The main purpose of purchasing the Genie+ option will be to bypass the normal standby lines for the some attractions. Even if you don’t purchase Genie+ there are still many uses with the complimentary Genie service like seeing where the shortest wait times are for attractions, getting on a waiting list for restaurants, and ordering meals at quick service restaurants.

What benefits do I get for staying at Disney Resort hotels?

Guests staying at select Disney Resort hotels will have the first opportunity to purchase up to two individual attractions for the Lightning Lane entrance at 7 am. Other Guests can purchase reservations upon park opening. Guests staying at Disney World Hotels will also have more time in the parks during the 50th anniversary, with new early theme park entry and extended evening hours benefits.
