1. Arrive Early for Oogie Boogie Bash 2026

What time should you arrive for Oogie Boogie Bash? This is one of our biggest tips for first-timers: arrive early!

Oogie Boogie Bash ticket holders can enter Disney California Adventure Park beginning at 3:00 PM, even though the party officially begins at 6:00 PM.

There are dedicated entrances for Special Event ticket holders. The line can look intimidating, but don’t panic—it typically moves quickly. PRO TIP: You can enter via the Grand Californian entrance too, even if you’re not staying at the hotel! This line is usually much shorter than the main park entrance.

Once you’re inside, you’ll receive your party wristband. Be sure to grab your special-edition Oogie Boogie Bash map and trick-or-treat bag, too!

Getting into the park at 3:00 PM gives you three valuable hours to enjoy attractions, grab dinner, take photos and get yourself organized before the party officially begins.

2. Dress Up for the Party!

One of the best things about Oogie Boogie Bash? Costumes are encouraged!

It’s also one of the rare times adults can dress up in the Disney parks, so take advantage of it.

A Disney-inspired costume is always fun, but you can wear any costume that follows Disney’s guidelines. You can find the current Oogie Boogie Bash costume guidelines here.

Our advice? Choose something that is cute AND comfortable. You’ll be walking around Disney California Adventure for hours, so those adorable shoes that seemed like a good idea at home might not feel quite so magical by midnight.

3. Eat Before the Party Starts

With so much happening during Oogie Boogie Bash, the last thing you want to do is spend a big chunk of your party time sitting down for dinner.

Take advantage of your early park entry and eat a hearty meal before 6:00 PM. That way, once the party starts, you can focus on the experiences that make Oogie Boogie Bash special.

Of course, don’t fill up TOO much—you’ll want to save room for the exclusive Halloween treats available during the party. And, naturally, all the candy you’re about to acquire!

4. Bring Your Own Trick-or-Treat Bag

Here’s a little Oogie Boogie Bash secret: the complimentary trick-or-treat bag is pretty small. If you’re hoping to bring home a serious haul, bring your own larger bag — it’s totally allowed!

And don’t assume the Treat Trails are just candy. Depending on the offerings, you may find goodies like SunChips, Craisins, applesauce pouches and Goldfish along with traditional candy.

Even better? There is no limit to how many times you can go through the Treat Trails. So if your family is serious about trick-or-treating, bring the bigger bag.

5. Prioritize Party-Exclusive Experiences

If you only have one night at Oogie Boogie Bash, don’t spend the entire evening doing things you could do during a regular Disneyland vacation. Instead, prioritize the things that are exclusive to the party.

Think: Rare characters. Treat Trails. Villains Grove. Halloween entertainment. Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake.

Many attractions have little to no wait during the party. If your family loves rides, this can be a fantastic opportunity to experience some favorites with shorter waits.

There are also several attractions with special Halloween overlays. For example, you can experience the spooky Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark or the much more lighthearted Halloween fun of Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.

Just remember: attractions should be a bonus, not the entire reason for your party strategy. If you have limited time, prioritize the experiences that are exclusive to Oogie Boogie Bash first!

You’ll have plenty of opportunities to ride attractions during your other Disneyland days. Your Oogie Boogie Bash time is limited, so make those exclusive experiences count!

PRO TIP: Start toward the back of the park.Many guests naturally move toward the front of the park when the party begins. Starting toward the back and working your way forward can help you avoid some of those initial crowds.

6. NEW for 2026: Don’t Miss Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake

Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party is a brand new piece of entertainment at Oogie Boogie Bash 2026. Due to construction of future attractions, the regular parade route had to be altered a bit — so Disney came up with a whole new performance!

This parade-slash-show is a love letter to the Haunted Mansion, featuring iconic Haunted Mansion characters, floats, incredible dancers — and a fabulous new song you won’t be able to get out of your head. It even starts with the Headless Horseman riding creepily down the road!

There are two showtimes, and the second showing tends to be significantly less crowded.

The first street party starts near The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure and heads to Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! The second party runs in reverse (starting at Guardians). Both times, the parade stops in one of three places for roughly 10 minutes for a full dance performance you won’t want to miss!

Here’s where the street party makes stops for Oogie Boogie Bash 2026:

• The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure
• Wine Country Trattoria and Sonoma Terrace 
• Award Wieners in Hollywood Land. 

How early should you grab a spot to watch this spooktacular street party? For the first showtime, we recommend sitting along the parade route at least 30-40 minutes early. If you’re able to wait for the second showing, you should be able to find a great viewing spot along the route about 10 before showtime.

One of the biggest draws of Oogie Boogie Bash is the incredible lineup of rare and unusual Disney characters. This is your chance to meet characters you don’t typically see during a regular Disneyland day, both at Treat Trails (where you’ll walk by them without stopping) and traditional Meet & Greets.

NEW Characters at Oogie Boogie Bash 2026: Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove joins the Oogie Boogie Bash character lineup! Other popular returning charactes in 2026 include Ernesto de la Cruz from Coco, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, Hades from Hercules, Dr. Doofenschmirtz from Phineas & Ferb, and Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Before you start making your way around the park, check your party map to see where the characters are located. Then decide which ones are worth prioritizing for your family.

If there’s a particular character you absolutely don’t want to miss, make that character one of your top must-dos and plan around their location!

8. Experience Villains Grove at the Right Time

During Oogie Boogie Bash, the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail transforms into Villains Grove, an immersive experience filled with Disney villain-inspired environments. It’s incredibly popular, so expect a line throughout much of the evening.

The good news? The line tends to move quickly.

Two particularly good times to visit Villains Grove are during the first parade showing or just before 11:00 PM, when some crowds have shifted to other parts of the park.

One thing to keep in mind for families with young children: Villains Grove can be dark and spooky. If your little ones are easily frightened, this may not be the best experience for them.

9. Use the Party Map to Create a Game Plan

Your Oogie Boogie Bash map is about to become your best friend. Before you start racing around the park, take a few minutes to look at where everything is located. Keep an eye out for Must-do characters, Treat Trails, Entertainment, Villains Grove, and favorite attractions. Then group experiences that are close together.

The goal is to avoid walking from one end of Disney California Adventure to the other and then immediately walking back again.

10. Accept That You Won’t Do Everything
