Imagine, if you will, the Disney Resort hotel of your childhood dreams. Is it bright and colorful with larger than life Disney theming covering every square inch of the property? Does it have a massive pool? Convenient transportation to some of your favorite theme parks that could pass as a ride attraction? What if I told you everything we’ve dreamed up in your imagination actually exists?! It’s true! Disney’s Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida has all of this and more. Let’s dive in to all this resort has to offer.
As you approach Art of Animation, the first thing you will notice is the massive Disney theming that makes this resort unique. You’ll be greeted by character favorites such as Ariel, Nemo, and Lightning McQueen. Character sketches cover the walls as you head to the front desk to check in for your stay, and from the get-go you are immersed in Disney magic.
Art of Animation offers great accommodations with four different themed sections to choose from: The Little Mermaid, Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars. No matter what you choose, each option has incredible theming that immerses you into a Disney movie for the entirety of your stay. The Little Mermaid rooms are your standard hotel room with either one king bed or two queen beds. You will find plenty of decor that puts you “Under the Sea!”
The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars sections’ accommodations are family suites that can accommodate up to six adults. Each family suite will have a separate bedroom with one queen sized bed and attached full bathroom, living and dining space with a table bed and couch pull out, mini kitchenette, and another full bathroom. Each area is easy to spot with the enormous character sculptures that make for great photo ops.
For example, in the Cars area you’ll find all your favorite residents of Radiator Springs, including Lightning McQueen and Mater, but keep in mind these are statues and not actual interactive characters. In the Lion King area, Mufasa is standing proudly on Pride Rock, while Simba is found with Pumba and Timon on a giant log. The Finding Nemo section has larger-than-life decor and characters as well. These rooms are the most centrally located to the hotel’s amenities, including the Skyliner, but more on that later!
Cozy accommodations aren’t the only thing you can look forward to during your stay at Art of Animation. There are also plenty of amenities to keep you entertained when you’re not visiting the theme parks. The centerpiece of the resort is the Big Blue Pool, inspired by the movie “Finding Nemo.” This massive pool is the largest on Disney property and also features the Schoolyard Sprayground, a fun splash pad for little ones. Additionally, the resort is home to two other beautifully themed pools, the Flippin’ Fins Pool in the Little Mermaid section, and the Cozy Cone Pool in the Cars section.
Not in the mood for making a splash? Not to worry. There’s also a fun playground and an arcade to enjoy. Plus, the fun doesn’t end at night! Head to the Big Blue Pool each evening for Movies Under the Stars. At sunset, meet up at Pride Rock to enjoy a campfire with complimentary marshmallow roasting!
Speaking of tasty treats, let’s talk dining options at Art of Animation. There are two spots to quench your hunger. Landscape of Flavors is a food court style restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. While relaxing by the pool, you can enjoy snacks and drinks at The Drop Off which is located next to the Big Blue Pool.
My family had the pleasure of experiencing this resort for ourselves recently, and I can’t tell you how much we loved our stay! My kids, who were 3 and 5 at the time, were in awe of our Cars-themed suite and demanded that we take their pictures with all the cars lining Route 66. They truly felt immersed in the world of Cars and loved every second!
One of our favorite parts about staying at Art of Animation, by far, had to be the Skyliner. The Skyliner is an aerial gondola style transportation system that can take you to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and various resorts along the route. Art of Animation is one of those resorts, and it made getting to those two theme parks effortless and fun! The gondolas can even accommodate strollers. Strollers that are double width will need to be folded but single strollers and tandem double strollers can roll right onto the gondola! The Skyliner really is a game changer when it comes to Walt Disney World transportation.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is a true testament to Disney’s artistry and storytelling. From the moment you step foot in this immersive resort, you’ll be transported into the magical world of animation. The themed accommodations, incredible amenities, and unique activities make it a great choice for your next Walt Disney World vacation.
