Rainy Days in the Disney Parks

by | Aug 29, 2024

No matter what time of year you plan your vacation, there’s always something that’s a little, well, unpredictable and that’s…weather.  Especially if you plan to visit Walt Disney World, you can almost guarantee at least one day of rain during your trip. I know what you are thinking: should I cancel my trip or move it? The simple answer is no! There are so many fun things to do in the parks as long as you are prepared for those rainy days in the Disney parks.

Make sure to pack properly if there is rain in the forecast during your trip, and in my personal experience, even if it doesn’t call for rain. Sun showers are something I have gotten caught in during many trips to Walt Disney World. So what should you pack? Here are the essentials I pack for every trip:

  • Ponchos/rain jackets
  • Rain boots for the little ones
  • Shoe covers for the grown ups
  • Waterproof stroller cover (if needed)
  • Wind-proof umbrellas
  • Extra socks
  • Extra shoes

Rainy days at the park can be a damper, I spent an entire trip in Florida where it rained every single day. I know what it sounds like, but it was actually one of our favorite trips! As long as you are packed right, there’s no reason to leave the park as soon as the rain starts up. Most people will leave if they aren’t dressed properly which means…an empty park! You will most likely experience lower wait times and short lines for food.

Here are some tips to have an amazing day at the parks in the rain:

  • Consider ponchos instead of rain jackets because if you are wearing a backpack it will stay dry under the poncho
  • Rent a locker inside the park for the day. Keep your extra socks and shoes in there
  • Enjoy all of the indoor attractions! There are so many that are indoor from onloading to offloading
  • Look for dining reservations. Enjoy a meal indoors even if it’s just for dessert
  • Go shopping! Main Street is a great place to spend those Disney gift cards
  • Splash in those puddles! As long as everyone is dressed for the weather, go and enjoy playing in the rain

Do you have a Disney World trip coming up and it is calling for rain? Make sure to save this post!
