EPCOT International Festival of the Arts is going to be a blast, and it’s packed with so many fun things to do. I mean, who doesn’t love art? And there are so many different types of art for you to enjoy at this festival: You can watch an amazing performance or grab a bite from one of the Food Studios, get to know an artist, and take home something you’ll always treasure. If you’re visiting EPCOT during this exciting time, here are things not to miss:
The performances
The performances are held in the American Gardens Theatre and World Showcase Plaza. The series features some of your favorite Disney on Broadway music and includes a rotating cast of performers from Frozen, the Lion King, Aladdin and more. Performances are free with park admission.
If you want to see some amazing displays of strength, grace, acrobatics and agility then make sure to catch Art Defying Gravity—an extraordinary spectacle that brings together aerialists from around the globe who defy gravity with their unique routines.
Artful eats
The cuisine at this event is just as artistic as the other exhibits, and you can find it in 16 Food Studios including:
- Figment’s Inspiration Station at the Odyssey: Art, Food and Little Sparks of Magic
- El Artista Hambriento – Mexico Pavilion
- Goshiki – Japan Pavilion
- The Craftsman’s Courtyard
Each Food Studio offers fun and tasty art-inspired twist of food from around the world. For example, at the new Figment’s Inspiration Station food studio, you can get a delicious fruit pizza with cantaloupe and berries, a grape smoothie with Skittles for the young and young at heart, plus a 3 Daughters Brewing Blood Orange Hard Cider for the adults.
Get involved in the art
The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts is a celebration of artistic expression, and at Disney there’s no better way to be an artist than by joining in. Kids can make their mark on the world by creating chalk art at the bridge to World Showcase Plaza. Everyone can join in the Expression Section: A Paint by Numbers Mural that gives you paint, a brush, and your assigned number to create your section of a giant mural. Learn how to draw Mickey Mouse with an instructor in the Animation Academy, then check out Figment’s Brush with the Masters – this scavenger hunt will teach you about different styles throughout history while also helping you find hidden artwork around Epcot! Get a look into the creative process and meet your favorite Disney artists as you watch them work.
Once you’ve got all these awesome ideas for how to get involved with art during this year’s festival (and beyond!), it’s time for step two: taking it home with you. Each of the artists featured at the festival will have their art for sale, plus there is themed merchandise for the festival to shop.
