Meet Marie! Our Newest ConciEAR

by | Jan 19, 2022

Hey there, hi there everyone! My name is Marie and I am a new member of the ConciEARS team. My journey with ConciEARS started when I became a client in 2020. At the time, I wasn’t sure I really needed a travel planner. I had been a Disneyland Annual Passholder for years (when that was a thing) and wasn’t really intimidated about planning an upcoming Walt Disney World trip. Since we were traveling during a pandemic, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to have someone on top of all the latest updates on my side. Lyndsey was amazing and taught me the value of having a fellow Disney expert help plan my trip. In the process, she also inspired me to follow my Disney dreams by joining the ConciEARS team!

My love for Disney goes back as far as I can remember. Growing up, all things Disney were a special treat. Toys, games, shows, and movies weren’t as easy to access as they are now. Movies came out in the theater and if you missed them there you had to wait a while for them to be released on VHS. Then, you had to buy VHS movies before they went into the vault, never to return (well, not for seven whole years anyway). On TV, Disney was a premium channel we didn’t subscribe to so my only consistent access to Disney content was an old toy record player and just one set of records, music from the Disneyland resort. I would set up my dolls and toys, pretending they were on the Haunted Mansion, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and Pirates of the Caribbean, pushing them around in cardboard boxes while singing along to the music of the attractions.

Making the 6-hour trip to Disneyland would only happen once every couple of years. Although we didn’t go often, those trips to Disneyland had such an impact on me as a kid. Looking back, Disneyland was one of the few places I can remember seeing my dad relaxed and having fun with us kids (don’t worry, he’s much more enjoyable these days). Seeing my dad have a blast on all the mountains and watching fireworks with as much wonderment as I had felt was my introduction to the magic of Disney!

As the years went on, my love for Disney only grew. When I became a mom, I couldn’t wait to take each of my kids Disneyland for the first time. Then, I couldn’t wait to take them all again and again! I wanted them to feel the same excitement, joy, and awe that I felt when going to Disneyland. It worked for the most part, with each of them only having brief periods of being “too cool” for Disney before coming back around. These two boys were 9 and 7 when these pictures were taken in 2009 and here they are again in 2019.

I married into a family of Disney lovers as well. I think I have seen my in-laws inside Disney parks more than I have seen them outside! Disneyland is the perfect place to connect and reconnect with extended family and turn family-time into a vacation! We have, at various times, traveled with as many as 15 people! Often, we have a mix of family and friends so I know a thing or two about making the most of a Disney trip with a large party. For our most recent Walker Family Trip, we branched out and explored all that Walt Disney World had to offer.

Disney Parks are part of me and always will be. I will always simultaneously cherish my Disney Parks memories and look forward to making new ones. I am so excited to share my love for the parks as well as tips and tricks to make the most of each trip with more people as a ConciEAR.
