In case you haven’t heard the news, today is the birthday of our beloved Mickey and Minnie Mouse. To celebrate this special day, Disneyland revealed some great news about one of our favorite park features: the Partners statue in the hub of the park!
Over time, the bronze statue started to oxidize and required more than a simple polishing. Thanks to the extended downtime at the parks of late, skilled artisans were able to blast the statue with crushed walnut shells and bring everything back to the original bronze. A new mix of applications will preserve the statue better than before.
Check out the changes from the original bronze to today’s preserved version. There are a few differences, but we agree this new look is clean and classy.
For those of you swinging into Downtown Disney and Buena Vista Street for some shopping, you can also stop by the Storytellers statue. This icon is remarkable, pairing Walt with his buddy Mickey as they get off the train in California, ready to change the world! This statue in Disney’s California Adventure has also been restored using the same techniques. The best part? You can actually see and touch this statue these days.
Happy Birthday, Mickey and Minnie Mouse!
