runDisney is back!

by | Nov 9, 2021

Fitness fans rejoice! Disney’s signature race was run this past weekend. The Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend marks a return to big events at The Walt Disney World Resort and it looks like the weekend was a smash!

It’s great to see people gathering for races once again and this weekend looked to be a lot of fun. Back were the costumed runners and themed character meetings. Back was that sense of exhilaration as thousands waited for their time to cross the start line. From the opening fireworks to the finish line, these races had everything runners have been waiting for through these last few months!

Disney has a long history of race planning, dating back to the first Walt Disney World Marathon in 1994. ConciEARS has a history with race planning as well! For five years now, we have been planning runcations for our clients. Whether you want tips for your first race trip to learn about ways to recover after your race, or you just need some extra tips, our planners have you covered!

If you want to get in on the runDisney fun, there is still plenty of time. The next two events, The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend are currently sold out, but Disney has released some batches of registrations here and there. Give yourself a little more time and prepare for the inaugural Springtime Surprise Weekend from March 31st through April 3rd!

The Springtime Surprise Weekend looks to be a blast from the past with three events designed to get fans pumped, both long-time and new. There’s the return of the Expedition Everest 5K, giving runners a quick tour of the Animal Kingdom. Check out the new Ratatouille-themed 10K around EPCOT, the Race for the Taste. The run I’m most looking forward to is the return of my first race experience, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Ten-Miler! Even though this spooky race used to take place at night, the 5am start time promises a few miles in the dark of the early morning.

Each run promises its usual complement of character meets along the way with cool swag like t-shirts and race medals. For the ultimate challenge, sign up for all three races and earn a fourth medal declaring your dominance over the earliest of mornings at Walt Disney World. Brave all three races and book yourself a hearty breakfast or dinner at the new Steakhouse 71 or a massage at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Maybe both!

Race registration opens in a few weeks on December 9th. Get in touch with your favorite ConciEARS planner today to craft a runcation like none other! I’ll be there! Will you?
